Hello blog,
It's been a long time since I've updated this and an even longer time since I've posted anything significant. I have been taking a break from doing photography as a "business" (and I use that term very loosely), meaning I haven't scheduled any shoots (portraits, weddings, etc.) in months. Instead of doing the work I was putting out, I am back in school learning and re-learning the art side of photography, as well as many technical things of course. I felt like I had hit a wall in terms of creativity and technique, and the classes I am currently in are really pushing me in, what I feel, is a good direction. So I have not strayed from my camera, but I am using it in different ways right now. I still love it, still love photographing people, and I still get misty eyed just looking at wedding photos! The bottom line? I am still here. I'm still available for shoots and welcome any emails to jen.photo (@) yahoo.com.
Thanks :)

The Happiest Apple

I don't usually advertise other sites on my blog, but this store is so cute! Go check it out, it's The Happiest Apple!. She also has a blog here :)
The designs are all really cute - this one is my favorite, but most of the designs are really child-like and sweet. A quote from her profile: "Welcome to my shop! The Happiest Apple specializes in adorableness. Many of my designs were made with a nursery or child's room in mind but some are meant for big kids like myself too :Þ" That's so me!!! LOL
Anyway, I highly recommend checking it out and supporting fellows artists!

Wendy and Bryan's Baby Shower, 6-6-09
Last Saturday was Wendy and Bryan's baby shower! They basically wanted a lot of candids to document the day, and of course, true to my style, I took a TON of photos! I really love to capture all the details of an event - everything from the cake to presents to the people (of course!).

Wendy, Bryan, and all their presents!

Of course I had to take a picture of this couple! They have two little boys and she told me they rarely get the chance to be alone, so I wanted to be sure and get a nice portrait of just the two of them. I also have a ton of pics of their boys ;-)

You may recognize Katie from some other photos on my blog!

Yummy cake! I love the napkins too!

Makeover
This blog needs to be re-vamped! I've been saying that for quite awhile now, but seriously... I may do a whole new site completely. I'm bored of this set up and I want a better way to show/categorize my photos. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, send them my way! :-D

Weekend Rush
I've been super busy the past few months because I am back in school. I haven't had much time to do any non-class related photography, but it seems I will be making it all up in the next 48 hours. Well, technically this is class-related work, but not completely. I've basically booked myself with 5 people over the next 2 days. No idea how that's going to work out in terms of complete and utter exhaustion, but I will for sure get lots of good stuff. My final project for this class is kind of a secret, but it involves different portraits. Each person I'm working with will give me 30 mins to shoot my idea, and the rest of the time I will shoot photos for their respective portfolios. It's a win-win.
If this works out well, I just may do again. That is, if it doesn't kill me ;-)

Sean and Diana's Dholki
As I was going through my Flickr stream, I realized that I never posted the photos from Sean and Dianna's dholki ceremony that was back in August of last year!!! This ceremony is (I believe) a traditional Pakistani event before a wedding. It is similar to a bridal shower, but filled with lots of music, food, dancing, and all kinds of fun. This is my favorite pic from the night - I think it really captures the spirit!

Also, this was when I was trying out a watermark... obviously it didn't work out! Still need to work on that...
